Zines are magazines that are written, edited, published, and distributed by a single individual (less often by a collective of individuals) who is usually outside of the traditional magazine publishing network. As they often cover topics not typically covered by commercial magazines, they are similar in some ways to the samizdat publications that were once common in the wpen:Eastern Bloc.
