Determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze in detail its development over the course of the text, including how it emerges and is shaped and refined by specific details; provide an objective summary of the text.
- I can determine a theme and explain its development throughout the text using specific details.
- I can define “theme”, read a text and be able to extract the author’s purpose, and find appropriate quotations and references from the entire work that show how the theme emerges and is refined.
- I can objectively summarize a text.
- I can understand the difference between writing objectively and subjectively, and read a text and summarize the storyline.
