The complete location of a file or directory in a computer system.<ref>https://codex.wordpress.org/Glossary#Absolute_Path</ref> An absolute path starts at the root directory.

A path that is not absolute (i.e., one that does not start at the root directory) is a Relative Path (WordPress)
